Meet Darian Newbeck, LCSW,CHT,EMDR Practitioner

Considerate, Customized Care In-person Ft. Lauderdale or Coconut Creek, or Virtual, Evenings or Weekends Only

I view therapy as a collaborative process. I ensure you feel you are talking to a person and not just to my credentials.

Many of my clients are adult males, first responders and/or members of spiritual communities who are in recovery and seeking to make sense of their place in the world.

Maybe you're clean and sober, but you still struggle with feeling overwhelmed by life? Or you notice that you have so many thoughts in your head, but not enough hours in the day to get everything done? Do you feel pressure of nor living up to others' standards or your own expectations?

Now, more than ever, people have challenges managing their time, while the external world seems to move fast, and keeps asking more and more of our attention. At the same time, perhaps anxiety and traumas from the past are still bothering you and leaving you unsettled.

Therapy with me can help you to better regulate your emotions and learn the skills you need to calm yourself in the moment. I give you actual tools to release anger in healthy ways and bring down your levels of anxiety. I use various therapy techniques such as EMDR and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy or REBT to do this.  If you want to relieve deeper trauma and root family issue healing, we can use Hypnotherapy and EMDR. I meet you where you are, and use a direct and supportive approach that also asks for accountability.

Therapy is a collaborative effort. You can get relief and functionality based on the effort you put in. I can be part of the essential support system that teaches you healthy boundaries and helps you to maintain long-term emotional sobriety.

As a therapist, I use these therapeutic tools such as EMDR or hypnotherapy to teach valuable mindful ways of being, based on your motivation for change, emotional safety and personality. Everyone is different, and I meet them where they are. I can assist you in moving from patterns of victim, hero and persecutor consciousness into personal empowerment and healthy ways of relating with yourself and others to get more of wrist you want and need out of life!

Meet Dr. Claudia Rieman, Ph.D., LMHC, CST

Expertise in Sexuality Relationship and Collaborative Couples Counseling

I enjoy helping individuals and couples work through challenging issues which have prevented them from experiencing fulfilling relationships. It's fascinating to know what makes relationships work well or become such a challenge to navigate!

A lot of research has been conducted on people who: feel unfulfilled in their romantic relationships, are cheating on their partners, are exhibiting out of control sexual behaviors or are experiencing very low sexual desire. Unfortunately, there are fewer research articles on specific techniques to help people work through these difficulties. For that reason, as well as others, I obtained advanced post-graduate training at the American Academy of Clinical Sexology. This amazing program prepared me to adequately treat a wide variety of sexual, intimacy and relationship problems. I also specialize in treating depression and anxiety and to date, I continue do so using evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

I firmly believe everyone is good at something, but everyone can’t be an expert on everything. That’s why I have limited my areas of specialty to depression, anxiety, relationship and sexuality issues.

My clients are typically high-functioning, motivated and committed to making changes in their lives. They desire change but might not know what to do or where to begin. My clients are reliable and committed to working with me to improve their lives. Your time and money are valuable, so I strive to be structured, goal-oriented and brief (when possible). My goal is to give you the tools and resources that you need to create the changes you desire. My goal is not to keep you in therapy for the rest of your life! If you’re satisfied with our work together, then you’re likely to refer someone else to me. That is the highest compliment a therapist can receive.
I’m an avid reader and try to stay up on the latest research in my field. I travel frequently attending conferences and trainings. Occasionally I present my own research at international conferences.

Healing from past trauma & difficult experiences
Breaking harmful patterns & cycles
Managing stress & overwhelm
Setting boundaries & prioritizing self-care
Navigating life transitions & unexpected changes
Overcoming sadness that feels never-ending
Rebuilding confidence & self-love

I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation—not a clinical lecture. Psychology textbooks, would say my approach is a person-centered, trauma-focused style blended with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic techniques. I also use Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy for deeper personal work around trauma and breaking old patterns.

I founded Healing Couch in 2007 as an inspiration by my beloved late husband James Nold, who said that amazing healing took place on my (then red) therapy couch. I had visions of many more sessions, books and sessions on couches, and almost 20 years and many couches later, here we are, healing with people in profound ways on couches, whether in their homes our our offices! I love what I do and am always pushing the envelope.

I have been helping others to heal for over 30 years as a transformational therapist and supervisor. I continue to share knowledge through writing books, public speaking, workshops and teaching post-graduate classes. Call 954-900-6355  to check my availability for an appointment or to book a speaking engagement.
